Proclaiming the Historic Doctrines of Grace in the North Tampa Bay area
America has become the land of the religious "show."
Many churches have become mere cultural, social or
emotional gatherings centered around entertainment...
rather then Biblically based, doctrinally grounded, spiritual
bodies of believers meeting to worship the Living God.
The day is too dark and the Truth of God's Word
is too valuable and too powerful to be squandered
as it is in so many churches today!
You are invited to come and visit GBC...
We strive to exalt God, not entertain men! ...more
Grace Baptist Church holds to the Historic Christian Gospel. Our teaching is consistent with what Jesus preached, what was then amplified in the Epistles of the New Testament, held to by the early Christian church, and reclaimed and put forth once again through the Protestant Reformation. This understanding of the Scriptures is often referred to as “The Doctrines of Grace” or Reformation Theology.
These doctrines are put forth in such documents as “The Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689,” which Grace Baptist Church recognizes as our Statement of Faith. We are not bound to this confession and it in no way replaces the Bible or the authority of Scripture. Rather, it is a confirmation of and an assistance to us in understanding our faith.
We hold that the true church of the Lord Jesus Christ is composed of those whom He has brought to Himself through saving faith. The membership of Grace Baptist Church is and will strive to continue to be made up of believers in Christ, under His Lordship, who are in substantial agreement with the Historic Gospel.

We strive to use the expositional preaching, teaching
and all around education of God's Word! These are the reasons that
Christians come to be a part of GBC and it is our prayer that these
things will entice other Christians to be a part of GBC as well.
Likewise, we believe that God will use the proclamation of His Word
to genuinely save lost men and women in our church. Not gimmicks,
entertainment, or stories with long invitations, as is popular today.
The Biblical reason the church gathers week by week is to worship the Living God! To render to Him the glory that He alone is worthy of!
All other aspects of the proper Christian life will come from a body that strives to rightly worship God!
Over and over in Scripture we read that God desires those who will worship Him with their hearts… not merely their lips!
In John 4:23 Jesus declares:
“But an hour is coming and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.”
What an amazing verse! It tells us exactly what God the Father is seeking... exactly what pleases Him! And, what is the Father seeking? Who is it that pleases Him? Evangelizers? Fellowshipers? Encouraged or happy multitudes? NO! According to His own word... He is seeking: True Worshipers!
Now, who are these “true worshipers?” Who would they be?
The language suggests that they would be none other than... True Christians!
And, we all know that true Christians make up the... True Church!
THE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH GATHERED EACH LORD’S DAY…
IS TO DO WHAT GOD DESIRES... TO WORSHIP HIM!
NOW... WHAT HAPPENS IF THIS IS NOT THE FOCUS OF A CHURCH?
If the purpose that the church meets is to please the seekers,” what if the seekers are not pleased? What do you do? You do whatever you can, whatever it takes to please THEM!
Thus, the focus of the church then becomes an attempt to please MAN… NOT GOD!
GRACE BAPTIST CHURCH
GATHERS EACH LORD’S DAY WITH ONE DESIRE IN MIND... ONE PURPOSE THAT WE CONSTANTLY PRAY FOR... TO BRING TRUE WORSHIP TO THE LIVING GOD! WORSHIP THAT THE GOD OF THE BIBLE IS WORTHY OF! (Isa. 48:11)
ALL ELSE THAT A CHURCH DOES... EVANGELISM, FELLOWSHIP, EDUCATION... STEMS FROM... AND FLOWS OUT OF WORSHIP TO THE LIVING GOD!
THAT IS WHY WE SAY...
WE STRIVE TO PLEASE GOD…
NOT ENTERTAIN MAN!
Grace Baptist began several years ago with a handful of believers who were attending a local Baptist church, but were longing to be fed more than “milk” from God’s Word. They were tired of the petty non-Biblical problems that seemed to plague most churches today and were desirous to be part of more than a “religious social club.”
In 1994 the church was constituted and called Pastor Hildebrandt to be the founding pastor. From the beginning GBC centered on the exposition of scripture through the centrality of preaching. There are no committees, there are no divisions, there are no “cliques,” and we've never had a bitter or nasty business meeting or anything of the kind.
There can be no disguising the fact that doctrinally centered and expositional preaching centered churches are not popular in our day. Yet God has been gracious and we have persevered, never wavering from the our stance for the Historic Christian Faith or our purpose of growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
A little GBC trivia... When founded in 1994 Grace Baptist Church was originally called: First Baptist Church of Bayonet Point.
However, we felt that this name did not accurately reflect the doctrinal stand of our church... so in 1996 we changed our name to: Grace Baptist Church of West Pasco.
The reason we used "West Pasco" was because that was the general region in which we were located, however, at that time we did not yet own property so we had no specific town to call our permanent home.
When God was pleased to provide us with property in the area we had been praying for, it was actually located in what is really "Central Pasco."
When we considered that only those people who live in this immediate area even know where or what "Pasco" is (whether west or central, Pasco is the county in which we are located, just north of both Hillsborough and Pinellas counties), we elected to change the name to one that would be recognized nation wide, and reflect the broader region of our location: Grace Baptist Church of North Tampa Bay.
- Pastor -
Founding pastor of
Grace Baptist Church of North Tampa Bay.
While in his early twenties, in the midst of a career in radio, never having been witnessed to or having attended an evangelical service of any kind, Pastor Hildebrandt was saved by the Grace of God through the reading of the New Testament. He has had the privilege of sitting under the ministries of Pastors Albert Martin and Ernest Reisinger. He attended the Trinity Ministerial Academy in Montville, New Jersey and Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida Baptist Theological College.
Pastor Hildebrandt had the privilege of being ordained to the pastoral ministry by Rev. Ernest Reisinger.
In the late seventies and early eighties, Pastor Hildebrandt was involved with itinerant preaching in inner city missions and churches in New York and New Jersey. In 1988 he was ordained to full time pastoral ministry in the Fort Lauderdale area of Florida. Most recently, in 1994, he became the founding pastor of Grace Baptist Church of North Tampa Bay.
